If you are a newcomer to Canada and an internationally trained professional working towards pursuing your career goals, The Mentoring Partnership could be for you.
Mentee, Fahim Bahrami shares her experience:
“The Mentoring Partnership helped me a lot by finding a very dedicated, knowledgeable and experienced mentor who helped me to improve and modify my resume and cover letter styles to meet the standards of Canadian job market. My mentor, Beverley Royston, also helped me with some other skills needed in order to find a job easier and faster such as cold-calling, networking and leaving a voice mail message. It was my mentor’s recommendation to become a TESOL Ontario certified teacher because she believed that by having that certificate I could find jobs easier and it would increase my chances of finding a job. She also provided me the chance to job shadow her at Sheridan College which was an honour for me to be there with her and see how she manages her class and lessons. A week after that I attended a job interview and was offered a position there as an ESL teacher. Through this program I gained more confidence and learned a lot about Canadian workplace culture which helped me attend the interviews well-prepared and more confident.”
