Election and Economy

After Canadians voted on October 19th, 2015, an Ipsos Election Day survey was conducted on behalf of the Global News. The most important issue according the respondents of the survey – the economy.

Approximately 9,000 people were surveyed on thirty election issues ranging from the economy to Bill C-51 to healthcare.

According to the survey, the top five issues were as follows:


Economy – 21%

Desire for Change – 10%

Government Accountability – 9%

Taxes – 6%

Deficit / Balanced Budget – 6%

Leader of the Liberal Party, Justin Trudeau, made several promises related to the top five election issues listed above including a Promise of Change, Access-to-Information Reform and Tax Changes.
