A Foot in the Door

As a recent graduate, Robert needed help finding an employer to hire him as an Apprentice. He visited our Pickering location and worked with an Employment Specialist to find an employer.

Robert is currently working with a employer as an apprentice while he continues his in-class training. He reports:

“Out of high school I decided I wanted a job in the trades. I had some basic experience in school for plumbing so I decided to take a pre apprenticeship course that could help me gain knowledge about the field.

The pre-apprenticeship program really helped me out in understanding the theory and practical work behind plumbing. Out of college I tried to apply for multiple jobs but I didn’t have luck or maybe it was the wrong time of year. Being patient I decided to use the Durham Region Unemployed Help Centre which landed me my career that I have today.”
