The event has drawn international attention to Canada.

A photo of a crowd welcoming Syrian refugees to Canada is making the rounds on social media. Hassan McMasri posted the picture on his Facebook page with the following caption: “Dear world, this is Canada…” Quintiessential diversity.
According to federal statistics, 882 Syrian refugees have arrived in Canada since Nov. 4. “An additional 1,545 have been issued permanent resident visas but haven’t yet arrived in Canada.”
