Disability, Employer

Dancing Barista

Sam has autism. His dream was to be a Barista but he was told that he would never be employable. He met an employer who thought differently and the unexpected happened…

Chris, a Manager at a Starbucks location in Toronto, gave Sam a job as a Barista.

Due to his autistic condition, Sam uses dancing and movement as a means to concentrate on making drinks and focus on the work routine.

A video of Sam dancing while working went viral on YouTube with more than 800,000 views.

Ellen Degeneres caught wind of Chris and Sam and welcomed them to her television show.

Chris helped Sam turn his disability into ability. He reports that Sam’s confidence and ability to work independently has improved dramatically.
