Thanks to investments from the federal and provincial governments, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology has broken ground on what will be a $33.5-million state-of-the-art research facility.
On October 18th, MP Celina Caesar-Chavannes made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and by Granville Anderson, Member of Provincial Parliament for Durham.
The Software and Informatics Research Centre (SIRC) is being constructed just north of Conlin Road and the UOIT campus.
The funding from the federal government comes from the post-secondary institutions strategic investment fund.
According to MP Celina Caesar-Chavannes, the SIRC building will offer access to a “cutting-edge hub” for research, health, business analytics, IT and security, networking, gaming, software, and engineering.”
