Together with key community partners, the Pickering and Ajax Welcome Centres held a successful Health Information Day for Newcomers.
Newcomers had the opportunity to visit booths and attend a full day of workshops related to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The workshops offered tips about active, healthy living as well as information about the services and programs available in Durham.
Kinark Family and Children Services, Pickering Public Library and Ajax Public Library were on-site along with a representative from Parks Canada who handed out free passes to Canada’s National Parks – an initiative to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary.
Participants were able to take advantage of child minding and a youth activity room. More than 120 adults, youth and children attended.
