Goal Setting for the New Year

Did you know that January is the biggest job searching month of the year?

Since the New Year is all about new beginnings, it is no surprise that many people are looking for a new job or considering a change in career.

On average a person changes his/her job 10-15 times throughout their working lives.

Setting goals is the best way to realize your employment goals. To quote American Radio Speaker and Author, Earl Nightingale, “People with goals succeed because they know where they’re going.”

Need some tips?

Try taking inventory of your skills, interests, achievements, volunteer work, etc.

Research career options by learning about the labour market and the types of jobs available.

Ask your friends about their work – you may choose to set-up a day to job shadow or look for volunteer positions in your field of interest.

Consider Continuing Education to grow your skills and gain you the certification that you may need to reach your goals.

Our Employment Counsellors are here to help you determine or assess your career objective and work toward achieving your employment objectives. If you are in the Durham Region, Ontario, schedule an appointment to kick your employment plan in to high gear!
